Design Process
Yacht design works is here to get you from concept to completion in the capacity that the client needs and to make it an enjoyable experience.
Concept Assignment
Project Development
The way we start the project off is by establishing the definition of the project and creating a timeline to follow throughout the design process.
Market Research
Market research is a vital part of our design process. Through competitive analysis with cost, size and volume comparisons we are able to gauge where or designs would land and how we can improve on what is already on the market. This allows us to design cutting edge and competitive products.
Concept Development
Exploration
During the exploration phase conceptual sketches are created and then refined, this will typically take several rounds of sketching and refining before it is time to move on to the next phase. The profiles and general arrangements are loosely designed to showcase volumes and will be refined in the developmental phase. Through the use of blue ocean brainstorming, we tap into newfound growth in a saturated market.
Development
The Developmental phase is a deep dive into the design, sketches will be refined and two-dimensional renderings are created to begin exploring materials and color. The general arrangements will be explored while employing validated ergonomics while evoking emotion through well thought out approaches.
During this phase, the Naval architects will conduct weight studies as well as performance predictions and hydro statistics necessary for production.
A vital part of many projects during development is the process of creating three-dimensional prototypes that can better help the client visualize the finished product but even test it out. These models will be full-scale mock-ups or to scale depending on the client's needs and the project scope.
Cool Color Palette & CMF (color, materials, finish)
Warm Color Palette & CMF (color, materials, finish)
During the Design Finalization color palettes are established, typically there will be warm and cool color options for the client to choose from
It all starts with a collection of inspiration images, this will then inspire the color story and from there we begin to pick materials to match the vision. This will leave us with a CMF board showcasing all of the materials chosen as well as the hardware, light switches, and decor accents. Leading from the CMF board we will curate the furniture.
Design Finalization
Final Renderings, GA’s & Models
A vital part of the Design Finalization is the creation of the photo-realistic renderings as well as the finalized general arrangement (GA). These renderings will give the client a true vision of what the finished project will look like, this will showcase not just the structure but also the application of materials.
The final renderings will include interior styling, material selection and often custom upholstery.

Prototyping Support
During the prototyping process, our team will help with the part break out for the vendors as well as systems layouts. The documentation is a vital part of the prototyping support as well and during this phase, a final CMF confirmation is done to ensure the color, material, and finishes are exactly what the client wants.
Production Support
The final step is the prototype approval as well as general production support. Our team will also help with future model enhancements.
Finished Product
The final product will have been visualized through a variety of ways starting with sketching and moving into renderings to help communicate ideas until the final production phases.
